WHEREAS, as of August 23, 2021 the U.S. Federal Drug Administration has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine, and
WHEREAS, University of Utah Policy 3-300: Environmental Health and Safety Policy calls for “the University of Utah to promote good health, well-being, and occupational safety for its faculty, employees, students, and visitors, whether on campus or elsewhere engaged in the work of the University”, and
WHEREAS, universities are beacons of science and reason in times of distress and uncertainty, and
WHEREAS, beyond science and reason, it is a moral imperative to act to protect those vulnerable to the virus by supporting the safe and effective vaccination of our community,
THEREFORE, we—the Faculty and Staff of the Entertainment Arts and Engineering Program at the University of Utah—hereby express our endorsement of the student-driven University of Utah COVID Vaccine Mandate Petition, which calls for the immediate implementation of a vaccine mandate for the University of Utah campus community.
