The Entertainment Arts and Engineering Program at the University of Utah is dedicated to supporting, fostering, and increasing the diversity, equity and inclusion of our students, staff and faculty. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is central to our mission of creating a new interdisciplinary informatics field that deeply integrates art, humanities, social science and computational research and practice. We embrace and celebrate the unique talents, skills and perspectives which come from having a diverse campus community. Specifically, we define Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the following game night metaphor:
- Diversity means everyone is invited and welcome to the game night.
- Inclusion means that everyone’s favorite games are played during the game night.
- Equity means that everyone has the opportunity and feels welcome to play.
We are committed to increasing the diversity of students, staff and faculty by increasing the heterogeneity of race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, language, culture, national origin, religious background, age, and ability.
We are committed to creating a campus driven by inclusive practice. We create opportunities for participation no matter our individual differences or perspectives. We foster a sense of belonging for all members of our community of game developers and local communities we live and participate with.
We are committed to increasing the equal participation (equity) of people who make and play games by challenging bias, harassment and discrimination. This bias, harassment and discrimination may be based on race, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression, ability, body type, marital status, or veteran status.
