Will Loxley, EAE Undergraduate Student, has recently been awarded a scholarship to investigate ableism in games employment by the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. Their research project, entitled 'Disabled, Not Disqualified: Ableism in Recruitment and Retention for Game Development' will analyze videogame developer websites and external recruitment documentation to assess what support, if any, is offered to disabled candidates looking to work in games. Their work is an important contribution to growing conversations about equity and inclusion in the videogames industry and highlights the important research work being done by Entertainment Arts and Engineering students.
