Talk title: VFX: The Flair You Need and How to Get It

Description: An excellent VFX professional needs to combine their skills in modeling, texturing and animation with practicel experience using a variety of technical tools. In this talk Damean will describe how his experience as a student in the EAE program helped shape him into a perfect candidate for VFX positions. Through his work on multiple projects, including the award-winning and IGF student competition nominee Cyber Heist, he was able to tackle variety of different art tasks and avoided getting pigeon-holed into a single discipline. This opportunity, and flexibility, allowed him to learn some of the tools and practice skills he’d later find invaluable in his work at Disney Interactive and RED Games.

Bio: Damean Lyon is Senior VFX Artist at RED Games. He graduated with a BA/MS in Entertainment and Engineering Studies from the University of Utah in 2014. After graduating he joined Disney Interactive/Avalanche working on the Disney Infinity titles until 2016. At RED, Damean has helped to release 8 more games for companies like LEGO, HASBRO, OWN, Crayola, and Nickelodeon.
